Beautiful campus, great town! Quiet and peaceful community nestled in the Cascades. Nice people, too!
Location, staff and faculty are all great!
Awesome school, fantastic staff, wonderful location....It’s no wonder everybody here is smiling!
This one star is for the AMAZING student life on campus. There is so much to do and the campus is so pretty. That aside, the professors are neglectful. The administration is unorganized and often tells you things that contradict each other. There is very little interaction with professors and they don't make an effort to answer your questions. Honestly, just go to a privatized tech school. You'll get a much better (and more lucrative) education instead of this circus with no accountability.
When I transfered to Southern Oregon University in 1998 I was a divorced single mother of three, scared to death to be hundreds of miles away from home. I grew up in a small dairy and logging town where the cows outnumbered humans 25 to 1! Life in Tillamook was taking me nowhere. So within weeks I felt like Ashland and SOU was the home I never had. The other students were my second family. The professors were and still are, among the best educators in the Pacific North...west!Finally in 2001 I graduated with a bachelor's in history and two minors. I returned after a year to pursue my master's in history. Unfortunately I became very ill and was unable to finish pursuing my degree. One of my dreams has been to teach at SOU as an instructor. But one thing after another happened and my dream was shelved permanently. I live in Medford now working here and working there. I make it a point to stop by SOU and visit with my history and sociology professors and instructors. Thank you Southern Oregon University for giving me my life back. For showing me that I can be whatever I set my mind too. One day I hope to return to Southern to either finish my master's or find another field to build on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
